🍿 Stremio Watch Party

Watch web.stremio.com in perfect sync with a friend. Both of you install this once.

Install the extension (Chrome · Edge · Brave — desktop)

  1. Unzip the download — you get a Watch Party folder with two things inside: extension and windows app.
  2. Open chrome://extensions and switch on Developer mode (top-right).
  3. Click Load unpacked and pick the extension folder. Pin the 🍿 icon.

Use it

Host Play something on web.stremio.com → click the icon → Create a room → Copy invite link → send it.
Friend Click the link — it opens Stremio, joins the room and jumps to the same stream automatically.

Either of you can play, pause or seek — it syncs both ways. Picking a stream or the next episode moves you both together. In Edge, the extensions page is edge://extensions.

Optional: Windows app (included in the download)

Want Stremio Web as its own app with local transcoding? Open the windows app folder from the same download and double-click StremioWebParty Setup.bat once — it installs Stremio Service support, auto-updates the extension on every launch, and drops a "Stremio" shortcut with the popcorn icon on your Desktop — that shortcut is what you double-click from then on. It starts the service, opens web.stremio.com in a clean app window, and stops the service when you close it. Inside the app window, use the on-page 🍿 button (bottom-right) for parties — the toolbar popup doesn't exist there. Details in the folder's README. Direct links: extension only · Windows app only.
